Metrol are pleased to announce the award of an 11 well contract from a major North Sea operator to provide long-term wireless downhole barrier integrity monitoring as part of their abandonment program. The 11 subsea wells will be monitored wirelessly for up to 5 years.

As the world-leader of downhole acoustic and electromagnetic wireless telemetry, Metrol have been supplying systems for the remote monitoring of shallow and deep-set plugs in platform and subsea wells for many years.

The interchangeable nature of Metrol’s technology allows great flexibility during subsea operations. Using TRITON*, pressure monitoring is provided without well intervention as an offline operation limiting environmental exposure. Intervention time is reduced and operational life is extended, providing greater downhole understanding, and reducing overall costs.
